Treatment That Survives the Academic Calendar

Invisalign in Bloomington, IN is clear aligner treatment: a sequence of custom, removable trays that move your teeth gradually, planned end to end from a digital scan before the first tray is made. You wear each tray, change to the next on schedule, and come into our E. Buick Cadillac Blvd office periodically so we can confirm the teeth are tracking to plan.

Bloomington has a particular problem with treatment that runs long. Between Indiana University and the medical and manufacturing employers around it, a large share of this city empties out and refills on a semester rhythm. Traditional braces are unforgiving about that: the wire needs tightening in a chair, on a schedule, and a summer at home in another city means either a long drive back or a stalled treatment plan.

Clear aligners break that dependency. The trays advance on your calendar, not ours, so a case keeps progressing through finals, through summer, through a semester abroad. And because Bloom Dental runs seven offices across Indiana on shared records, a progress check does not have to happen in Bloomington at all.

This is also where the practice began. Dr. Brandt Finney founded Bloom Dental here in 2019, and it has stayed doctor-owned and doctor-led since. More on how we approach Invisalign across all seven locations.

What Actually Happens

From First Scan to Final Retainer

The whole sequence, in order, with nothing glossed over.

Step One

Consultation and digital scan

We look at your bite and take a digital scan, then ask what is actually bothering you. Wanting the front teeth straight for graduation photos and having a bite that is wearing enamel are two very different plans.

Step Two

The plan, in writing

Projected movement, tray count, timeline and cost with your verified insurance benefit applied, before you agree to anything. If you need it to finish by a specific date, this is when we tell you whether that is realistic.

Step Three

Wearing the trays

Aligners have to be in your mouth the great majority of the day to do anything at all. They come out to eat and to brush. This is the single biggest factor in whether treatment finishes on time, and it is worth being honest with yourself about it before you start.

Step Four

Progress checks, here or elsewhere

You come in periodically so we can confirm the teeth are moving as predicted. If you are away from Bloomington that term, book the check at whichever Bloom Dental office is closest to you instead.

Step Five

Retainers

Teeth drift back if nothing holds them. Retainers are how the result survives, not an upsell at the end. We fit yours when active treatment finishes and tell you exactly how much wear it needs.

Worth Saying

When braces are the better answer

Clear aligners do not suit every case. Some rotations and bite corrections are handled better with fixed braces. If yours is one of them we will say so at the consultation instead of starting you down a road that will not get you there.

Why This Office

Six Reasons Bloomington Patients Choose Bloom Dental for Invisalign

Your case is portable

Seven Indiana offices working from shared records. Home in Indianapolis for the summer means a progress check across town, not a four hour round trip to Monroe County.

Friday mornings exist here

Bloomington is the one office open for clinical appointments on Friday, 8 AM to 1 PM. For a schedule built around lectures and labs, that window is usually the easiest to fill.

Where the practice started

Dr. Brandt Finney opened Bloom Dental in Bloomington in 2019. Still dentist-owned, still dentist-led, and clinical decisions still sit with the doctor treating you.

Digital planning in house

Digital scanning, CBCT imaging and digital smile design are shared across the group, so the plan is built on real data rather than an impression tray and an estimate.

A second opinion built in

Our doctors review cases together across all seven locations every week. A case with a complication in it gets looked at by more than one dentist before the plan is finalized.

A route if you are uninsured

Student plans are often thin on orthodontic coverage. We take most major carriers, and there is a Bloom Dental membership program if you have no dental coverage at all.

Insurance, Membership and What Treatment Will Cost

Bloom Dental accepts most major carriers, including Delta Dental, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, DentaQuest and AlwaysCare. Many plans treat clear aligners as an orthodontic benefit, which usually pays a share of treatment rather than all of it. Student and parent plans often have an age cut-off worth checking before you start. We verify your specific benefit first, so the number you are quoted is the number you pay.

Common Questions

Invisalign Questions from Bloomington and Monroe County Patients

I am an IU student. What happens to my treatment over summer break?

This is the question we get most often, and it is the reason a seven office group suits a college town. Your aligners keep working wherever you are, because you change the trays yourself on the schedule we set. If you are home in Indianapolis, Greenwood or Muncie for the summer, a progress check can happen at whichever Bloom Dental office is closest to you. Your treatment plan is shared across all seven locations rather than locked in one filing cabinet in Bloomington.

How much does Invisalign cost in Bloomington, IN?

It depends on how far your teeth need to move and how many trays the plan calls for, so we do not quote a number before we look. At the consultation we scan your teeth, build the plan, and hand you the cost in writing with your verified insurance benefit already applied. If you are on a student plan or have no dental coverage at all, ask about the Bloom Dental membership program.

Can I be seen on a Friday?

Bloomington is the one Bloom Dental office with Friday clinical hours, 8 AM to 1 PM, with the phones answered until 5. Monday through Thursday we are open 8 AM to 5 PM. For students trying to fit an appointment around a class schedule, that Friday morning window is usually the easiest one to get.

How long does clear aligner treatment take?

Most cases run between six months and two years. The range is wide because the tray count is set by how much movement your bite needs, and correcting the way the back teeth meet takes considerably longer than straightening a few front teeth. If you are on a four year degree and want the whole thing finished before you graduate, say so at the consultation and we will tell you honestly whether that is realistic for your case.

Will my dental insurance cover Invisalign?

Many plans cover clear aligners under an orthodontic benefit, which usually pays a share rather than the whole treatment, and some apply a lifetime maximum. Bloom Dental accepts most major carriers including Delta Dental, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, DentaQuest and AlwaysCare. We verify your specific benefit before treatment begins. If you are on a parent plan, it is worth checking the age at which coverage ends.

Is this the original Bloom Dental office?

Yes. Dr. Brandt Finney founded the practice in Bloomington in 2019, and it has grown to seven Indiana locations since. The group is still owned and led by dentists rather than a corporate operator, which is why clinical decisions stay with the doctor treating you.

What happens after treatment ends?

You move into retainers, and this part is not optional. Teeth drift back toward where they started if nothing holds them, which is the single most common reason people are unhappy years after finishing orthodontic treatment. We fit the retainer at the end of active treatment and tell you plainly how much wear it needs to keep the result.

For general background on orthodontic treatment and what it is meant to correct, the American Dental Association publishes a plain-language overview at MouthHealthy.
