Dr. Ben Dawson, DDS

Dr. Dawson grew up in Bloomington, did his undergrad at Indiana University, and stayed in state for his dental degree at the IU School of Dentistry. After that came a pediatric dental residency in Indianapolis — which turns out to be a useful thing in a dentist whether the patient is six or sixty.

At the Plainfield office he provides routine preventive care, restorative treatment, same-day crowns and implant restoration for patients of all ages. Outside the practice he follows Indiana golf and sports.

We accept most major dental insurance and verify your benefits before treatment, so your estimated share is confirmed in advance. For patients without insurance, a membership plan is available.

New patients may receive an exam and X-rays for $99, and implant consultations are complimentary.

What happens at a new patient's first visit?

Please allow about an hour. The visit includes X-rays, a full examination and a periodontal assessment, followed by a review of the findings with you using the images on screen. New patients may receive an exam and X-rays for $99. A cleaning is often completed at the same appointment; if additional treatment is indicated, we will explain the recommended options before proceeding.

Do you take my dental insurance?

We accept Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, MetLife, Guardian, TeamCare, DentaQuest, Ameritas and GEHA. Please bring your insurance card to your first visit; our front desk will verify your benefits and review your estimated coverage with you before treatment begins. What if I don't have insurance?

The Bloom Dental membership program is an in-house plan for patients without dental insurance, covering routine preventive care at a set annual cost. Financing options are also available; our front desk can review both with you.

I have a dental emergency. What do I do right now?

Please call the Plainfield office at (317) 204-3111 and describe your symptoms. Time is reserved in the schedule for urgent problems and most emergencies can be seen the same day, though same-day availability cannot be guaranteed in every case. A cracked tooth, lost crown, facial swelling or persistent pain should be assessed promptly. Further information on emergency dentistry.

Do you place implants here, or refer me somewhere else?

Implant treatment is provided within Bloom Dental by our own doctors and associates, so most cases are handled inside the practice rather than referred out. Treatment is planned in advance using digital imaging, and implant consultations are complimentary for new patients. More detail on dental implants.

Where exactly are you, and where do I park?

167 Dan Jones Rd, Plainfield, IN 46168 — just off US-40, an easy run from Ronald Reagan Parkway and a few minutes from the Shops at Perry Crossing. There's a free surface lot right at the door, so no garage, no meter, no circling the block. We're a short drive for patients across Hendricks County, including Avon, Brownsburg and Mooresville.
