Orthodontics on the Northeast Side
The Office Where a Parent and a Teenager Can Start Together
Invisalign near Geist, Indianapolis, IN is clear aligner treatment: a set of custom, removable trays that move teeth gradually, planned end to end from a digital scan before the first tray is ever made. You wear each tray, change to the next on schedule, and come into our Oaklandon Rd office periodically so we can confirm everything is tracking to plan.
Around Geist, the consultation very often involves two people. A teenager is at the age where crowding has stopped being cosmetic, and the parent sitting next to them had braces in the nineties and has watched the front teeth quietly slide back ever since. Both cases are treatable. Neither one is a reason to make two separate trips across the northeast side.
So we scan both, plan both, and say plainly which one is straightforward and which one is not. The plans will not run the same length — a growing teenager and an adult correcting twenty years of drift are different problems — but they can start on the same afternoon.
Aligners also suit a household that is not always in the same place. The trays advance on your calendar, not on a chair appointment, so a week at the lake or a term away does not stall anything. More on how Bloom Dental approaches Invisalign across all seven locations.
Two Different Cases
What the Teenager Needs and What the Parent Needs
They come in together, but they are not the same treatment. Here is the honest difference before you sit down.
The teenager
The clinical question is timing. We look at how many adult teeth are through and whether the jaw is still changing, because starting too early can mean redoing work later. Sometimes the right answer is to wait a year, and sometimes it is fixed braces instead of trays.
The practical question is wear time. Aligners only work while they are in, and a removable appliance in a fifteen year old’s hands is a real variable. We would rather talk about that openly at the consultation than pretend it is not the main risk to the timeline.
The parent
Adult cases are usually about drift. Teeth that were straightened once move back over the years when nothing holds them, and the lower front teeth are normally where it shows first. That is a well understood pattern, not a sign that the original treatment failed.
Adult bone does not move as readily as a teenager’s, so the same amount of correction can take longer. On the other hand, wear time is rarely the problem. Adults tend to be the reliable half of the household on this.
What Actually Happens
From First Scan to Final Retainer
The whole sequence, in order, with nothing glossed over.
Consultation and digital scan
A digital scan of the teeth, a look at how the bite closes, and a question about what is actually bothering you. If two of you are being seen, both scans happen in the same visit.
The plan, in writing
Projected movement, tray count, timeline and cost with the verified insurance benefit already applied. One plan per person, so a household running two cases sees two real numbers.
Wearing the trays
Aligners have to be in the mouth the great majority of the day to do anything at all. They come out to eat and to brush. This is the single biggest factor in finishing on time, and it is the part worth being honest about before you start.
Progress checks
You come in periodically so we can confirm the teeth are moving as predicted. Two family members on the same treatment schedule can usually be booked back to back rather than on separate days.
Retainers
Teeth drift back if nothing holds them. The adult in the room is usually living proof of it. Retainers are how the result survives, and we fit them when active treatment ends.
When braces are the better answer
Clear aligners do not suit every case. Some rotations and bite corrections are handled better with fixed braces, and that is more often true of the younger patient. If yours is one of them we will say so instead of starting a plan that will not get you there.
Why This Office
Six Reasons Geist Families Choose Bloom Dental for Invisalign
One office for the whole house
Cleanings, a teenager’s first orthodontic look and an adult aligner case all happen at the same Oaklandon Rd address, with one set of records behind them.
Northeast side, not downtown
We are on Oaklandon Rd near the reservoir, which keeps Oaklandon, Lawrence, McCordsville and Fortville patients off I-465 for a routine progress check.
Doctor-owned, not a chain
Bloom Dental was founded by a dentist in 2019 and is still dentist-led. The person deciding whether aligners suit your case is the person treating it.
Digital planning in house
Digital scanning, CBCT imaging and digital smile design are shared across the group, so the plan is built on real data rather than an impression tray and an estimate.
A second opinion built in
Our doctors review cases together across all seven locations every week. A borderline case gets looked at by more than one dentist before the plan is finalized.
A route if you are uninsured
We take most major carriers, and there is a Bloom Dental membership program for households with no dental coverage at all.
Your Dentist
Who Plans Your Treatment at Geist
Dr. Valerie Eibling, DDS
Bloom Dental · 7962 Oaklandon Rd Suite 105, Indianapolis, IN
Dr. Eibling leads the Geist office and follows clear aligner cases here from the first scan through the final retainer. Because this office sees children, teenagers and adults, she is often planning two cases in one family at once and telling you honestly which one is the simpler of the two.
She will also tell you when aligners are not the right tool for a bite, which happens more often with younger patients than most people expect. That candour is the point of a dentist-led practice, and at a consultation it is worth more than any promise about results.

Insurance, Membership and What Treatment Will Cost
Bloom Dental accepts most major carriers, including Delta Dental, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, DentaQuest and AlwaysCare. Many plans treat clear aligners as an orthodontic benefit, which usually pays a share of treatment rather than all of it, and dependent coverage often ends at a set age. Benefits are worked out per person, so a household treating two people gets two verified numbers before anything begins.
Common Questions
Invisalign Questions from Geist and Northeast Indianapolis Patients
Can my teenager and I start Invisalign at the same time?
Yes, and it is one of the more common ways treatment starts at the Geist office. Two people in one household can be scanned in the same visit and planned separately, because each set of trays is made from that person's own scan. It is worth knowing that the two plans will rarely run the same length. A teenager still finishing growth and an adult correcting years of drift are different cases, so expect different tray counts and different finish dates.
How old does a child need to be for clear aligners?
There is no single age. What matters is how many adult teeth are in and whether the jaw is still changing shape, which is why we look before we answer. Some younger patients are better served by waiting, and some are better served by fixed braces instead. We will tell you which of those applies at the consultation rather than starting a plan that is not the right tool for the case.
Where exactly is the Geist office?
We are at 7962 Oaklandon Rd, Suite 105, on the northeast side of Indianapolis near Geist Reservoir. That puts us convenient to Oaklandon, Lawrence, McCordsville, Fortville and the Fishers side of the reservoir. Parking is at the building, so a school pickup and an appointment in the same afternoon is realistic.
How many appointments will we actually have to come in for?
Fewer than fixed braces require, because nobody has to tighten a wire for you. You change to the next tray yourself on the schedule we set, and you come in periodically so we can confirm the teeth are tracking to the plan. For a family running two cases at once, that difference in visit count is usually the deciding factor.
What if we are away for the summer or moving across town?
Your case is not tied to this building. Bloom Dental runs seven Indiana offices on shared treatment records, so a progress check can happen downtown on Virginia Ave, in Greenwood, in Plainfield or at whichever location is closest to where you are that month. Bring the trays you are on and we can pick the case up from there.
Will insurance cover clear aligners for two people in one family?
Coverage is worked out per person, not per household, and orthodontic benefits often carry a lifetime maximum and an age cut off for dependents. Bloom Dental accepts most major carriers including Delta Dental, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, DentaQuest and AlwaysCare. We verify each person's benefit before treatment begins so you see two real numbers rather than one estimate.
What happens when the trays come off?
Retainers, and this part is not optional for either of you. Teeth drift back toward where they started if nothing holds them, and that drift is the reason a good many adults are in our chair asking about aligners in the first place. We fit the retainer when active treatment ends and tell you plainly how much wear it needs.
